Excellent Service

Stacey was most helpful and when we asked whether it was possible to add on an extra few days to our river cruise, she kindly contacted someone in the know and got back to us. Excellent service.

This was the first time I had booked a cruise and a lady I had met recommended using ROL. When I rang a lady called Jo dealt with my booking. She was extremely patient and knowledgeable and really helped with a procedure that I knew nothing about.

Personal attention at all times.

Welcome to the world’s most northerly capital! A modern, smokeless city with an old town, lovingly preserved, Reykjavik lies close to an astonishing region of lava fields, spectacular geysers and steaming geothermal springs. Attractions abound, but the Blue Lagoon, with its warm mineral rich waters, and the magnificent Gulfoss Falls should not be missed.

    Day 5

    IsafJordur, Iceland

    14 Jul 2019

The main city on Iceland’s north west coast, known as the Westfjords region, provides the starting point for a number of fascinating excursions into this sparsely populated area, which, geologically, is the oldest part of Iceland. Here, land meets the sea in the most dramatic way imaginable. The sheer basalt cliff of Latrabjarg is home to one of the largest seabird colonies in the world and a wonderful place to go puffin spotting. Elsewhere, the rugged beauty of Hornstrandir Nature Reserve hides all manner of unusual vegetation, scenic walking trails and wildlife that includes seals and Arctic foxes.

    Akureyri, Iceland

    15 Jul 2019

The second largest town in Iceland, at the head of the country’s longest fjord, the thriving Botanical Gardens and the fascinating museum are well worth seeing, but the real attraction is the awesome landscape of volcanoes, waterfalls, canyons and geysers. Take a polar flight across to Grimsey, watch for whales or visit Godafoss - the ‘Waterfall of the Gods'.

Capital city of the Faroe Islands, “The harbour of the god Thor”, is a modern town that retains a unique character; although the islands - a green home to birds, sheep and about 46,000 people - would still be recognisable to the early Viking settlers who arrived on their transatlantic trail from Scandinavia to North America.

The Ship

At 46,052grt she will carry about 1250 passengers accommodated in 726 cabins spanning nine passenger decks serviced by eight lifts. Her wide corridors and stairways and expansive deck areas with wood type decking in many areas exude a real feeling of spaciousness with a wide range of comfortable well appointed lounges and panoramic seating and observation areas ideally suited to our scenic cruise programme. Combining expansive, comfortable surroundings and friendly service with stylish entertainment and delicious cuisine, Magellan is the perfect choice for those looking for a greater range of on board facilities. However, she still retains a feel of intimacy and personal attention when compared with the ‘mega’ resort style ships built today. No climbing walls or ice-skating rinks and no kids! Magellan has two beautifully appointed dining rooms; the Waldorf and Kensington Restaurants and the more informal bistro for casual dining. The magnificent tiered main show lounge spans the height of two decks and affords wonderful viewing opportunities complemented by a host of superb lounge bars and public areas.
