25 Mar 2019

We use ROL now extensively for our cruise bookings, not only because of the reasonable prices, but because I can speak to a person who is prepared to listen what I want rather than impose the "standard position". On this booking, Jasmin was helpful, did what I needed & volunteered information

Overview

A host of the Low Countries’ highlights will be unveiled as Black Watch takes you on a relaxing journey inland to four stunning cities via picturesque waterways. You’ll take in diverse scenery from on board your smaller-sized ship; while ashore, fantastic museums, architectural wonders and historic sights galore are yours to uncover. Every moment of this week away will be wonderfully rewarding. Southampton is the ideal departure port for your cruise to Belgium and the Netherlands; just a short time after setting sail, you’ll be cruising the Nordzeekanaal straight into Amsterdam, your first port of call. Black Watch will dock overnight close to the heart of the Dutch capital, affording you an opportunity to experience an authentic, in-depth exploration. Perhaps take a boat tour of the city’s iconic canals in the evening; then the following day, visit world-renowned museums such as the Van Gogh museum, immerse yourself in the fascinating history of Anne Frank House, and see the majestic mansions of the Canal Ring. Then it’s on to Rotterdam, for a futuristic twist to your itinerary. The Netherlands’ stylish second city boasts a collection of fantastic museums and an array of unique architectural wonders, from the innovative 1970s Cube Houses to the magnificently modern Markthal. Take the day to explore Rotterdam at leisure, before marvelling at the impressive Erasmusbrug Bridge and the city’s striking skyline as you depart via Nieuwe Maas in the evening. Your three days in Belgium will be packed with delights too. Spending a day in Ghent offers you the opportunity to see many of the Low Countries’ most famous landmarks, including the gothic-style St Bavo’s Cathedral, the Castle of the Counts and the UNESCO-listed, 91-metre-high Belfry – the tallest in Belgium. Take in the sights of this medieval city on foot or via the tram perhaps; or you could opt to experience another magical canal boat tour. You’ll also visit Antwerp after cruising the Ghent-Terneuzen Canal. An overnight stay in Belgium’s beautiful second city affords you time to explore at your own leisurely pace. You can see the intricate guildhouses of Grote Markt and the mighty Cathedral of our Lady; visit the Royal Museum of Fine Arts; and satisfy your sweet tooth with tempting treats from traditional chocolate shops. Be sure to legendary diamond district to uncover some Antwerp most prized possessions too.

The Ship

Black Watch is sleek, intimate and harks back to the days when cruise ships were revered for their style and charm. The ultimate home-from-home at sea; Black Watch is spacious with a friendly and familiar feel, and provides guests with a traditional cruise experience rather than gimmicks such as climbing walls and on board bumper cars. This is further enhanced by the ship's attentive staff who strive to offer Fred. Olsen's renowned personal service and remember the important things, such as your name, your favourite tipple and how you like your breakfast. Show less Having undergone a thorough refurbishment in late 2016, Black Watch features a selection of stylish suites and rooms, restaurants and spacious public rooms that provide up to 804 guests with everything needed for a comfortable, enjoyable and stress-free holiday, while retaining the elegant style of a traditional cruise ship. Black Watch has five dining venues, including the Glentanar Restaurant, the oriental-inspired Orchid Room and the new The Poolside; welcoming bars and lounges offering an extravanganza of music, dance, comedy and selection of drinks including premium gin; inviting open deck spaces; and a teak-lined promenade. What's more, smart TVs, mini-bars and an upgraded 4K, 3D cinema, mean Black Watch is better equipped for future adventures than ever before.
