Despite its size the Tonle Pandaw contains only twenty-four cabins, providing a warm and friendly environment where staff and passengers develop a genuine and personal relationship. Having undergone a refurbishment in 2012, the Tonle is complete with all the modern luxuries, whilst remaining true to its roots and dedicating the voyage to providing an authentic experience of South East Asia.
Hand-built luxury comes no finer than Pandaw. The four-deck Tonle has a brass and teak finishing, which not only showcases the phenomenal beauty of the vessel, but the care and attention to detail that the liner prides itself on. Due to its breathtaking beauty and depth of fascinating history, South East Asia is becoming a more travelled area of the world. Pandaw offers a cruise experience like no other, with its ultra-shallow drafts allowing ships to travel through low water unreachable by a larger vessel. This access into the remotest parts of the river provide travellers with an intimate relationship with the Tonle and its unique surroundings.
The staterooms on board are 170 square ft., all of which are finished with teak and brass and offer a full-sized panoramic French window. Never miss a moment of the glorious scenery, as all rooms include a private deck space so that you are able to sit back and watch the magical sights glide past. The bathrooms are newly installed and feature natural stone showers, creating a calm and peaceful space for you to refresh in. Tastefully decorated and considerately designed, each stateroom easily becomes home. The amenities include fresh fruit and regional flowers upon arrival, a beautiful kimono and slippers, spa-branded toiletries, unlimited mineral water and delicious complimentary evening canapés.
The cuisine on board the Tonle is only surpassed by the stunning views that can be seen from the main deck’s panoramic windows. Fully connect to the outdoors by experiencing fresh, regional and seasonal cuisine, created by the local master chef and international culinary team. Offering both Asian and Western dishes, the day begins with a beautiful breakfast buffet, while lunch offers a selection of soups, creative salads and an exciting dessert table. For your evening meal, guests will experience a four-course delight, sampling the best of what the local region has to offer. Quality coffee, fine teas and an array of soft drinks are complimentary and available 24-hours, as are local beers and spirits.
Pandaw are dedicated to giving its guests the opportunity to experience the true essence of the local region. The on shore excursions provide entry into a whole new world, be it wandering through the spectacular countryside and remote villages, or exploring jungles further up river via speedboat. Guests are free to venture out independently, or be accompanied by an expert guide who will educate and entertain you about the local area. In keeping with the informal atmosphere, the on board entertainment remains low-key and relaxed. Educational talks from expert guides will enrich and surprise you, while the cooking demonstrations and fruit carvings will inspire and delight. Come along to a themed movie night, or marvel at a cultural performance including acts such as the phenomenally talented Royal Khmer Ballet in Cambodia.
While the emphasis remains heavily on the natural delights of the Mekong river, there are several social events that have become part of tradition on a Pandaw expedition. A welcome dinner will introduce you to your fellow passengers and exceptional staff, and a number of cocktail parties will transform those introductions into new found friendships. At the end of the journey, a farewell gala is held where fantastic food and drink is served and guests can reflect on their remarkable adventures.
With 28 crew members dedicated to caring for the 56 passengers on board, guests will receive exceptional service with a personal touch.
