Our Story So Far

At ROL Cruise, we’re incredibly proud of the journey we’ve taken from our early days as a small travel agency to becoming the UK’s No.1 Independent Cruise Specialist. Over the past 30 years, we’ve achieved countless milestones, all thanks to our passionate team, who have driven us forward. Take a look at our timeline to see how ROL Cruise has grown:

1995: ROL Cruise’s journey began in Colchester under the name Reader Offers Limited. Initially a small team of just four, we specialised in offering a wide range of land-based holidays through regional newspapers.

2002: By 2002, we had built strong partnerships with renowned cruise lines like Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines and Cunard, and soon expanded our network to include Cunard’s sister brands, Princess Cruises and Holland America Line.

2005: In 2005, we launched Blue Horizons, the UK’s No.1 Monthly Cruise Magazine (voted by leading cruise lines). This publication quickly became a go-to source for subscribers, offering the best cruise deals, the latest industry news, unique features, and exclusive value.

2005: As we celebrated 10 years of success, we welcomed Jeremy Dickinson as Head of Business Development. His arrival marked an exciting new chapter for the company, driving growth and new opportunities.

2008: As our company rapidly grew, we quickly outgrew our office on East Hill, Colchester. This exciting period of expansion led us to relocate to Lexden House in Colchester, where we continue to thrive.

2010: In March 2010, we introduced Cruise Miles®, a revolutionary loyalty program that allowed members to earn rewards with every booking. Each member started with an opening balance of 2,500 Cruise Miles®.

2010: In tandem with the launch of Cruise Miles®, we held our very first cruise show at the Weston Homes Community Stadium in Colchester. It brought together leading cruise lines and showcased a vast array of itineraries, ships, and packages.

2014: In 2014, Peter Beadles, the Founder and Chairman of Reader Offers Ltd., retired, passing the baton to Jeremy Dickinson as CEO. The following year, we proudly celebrated 20 years of success.

2016: In 2016, we rebranded as ROL Cruise and launched a fresh, new website. This rebrand reflected our growing focus on cruises and solidified our identity as the UK’s No.1 Independent Cruise Specialist.

2018: In a pivotal moment for the company, Jeremy Dickinson was appointed Chairman, and Rosie Cairns and Sarah Wikevand were promoted to Joint Managing Directors of ROL Cruise.

2020: ROL Cruise proudly celebrated its 25th anniversary, marking a quarter-century of excellence in the cruise industry.

2024: In 2024, ROL Cruise made a transformative shift, becoming an Employee Ownership Trust (EOT) and granting the majority stake of the company to its dedicated staff. Alongside this exciting change, Rosie Cairns, formerly Joint Managing Director, took on the role of CEO. At the same time, Jeremy Dickinson, who had previously served as Chairman, joined the Board of the Corporate Trustee.

2025: ROL Cruise proudly celebrated 30 years of excellence, marking three decades of providing exceptional cruise experiences and growing as the UK’s No.1 Independent Cruise Specialist.
