Three next-generation ships set to redefine the Princess experience
Published on 17 Apr 2026
Princess Cruises has announced an exciting new chapter in its fleet expansion, revealing plans for three brand-new ships that will form part of its innovative ‘Voyager Class’, set to become the largest and most advanced vessels ever built for the line.
The new ships, scheduled for delivery in 2035, 2038 and 2039, will be constructed by renowned Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri at its Monfalcone shipyard. Designed with the modern traveller in mind, the next-generation platform promises to elevate the onboard experience while staying true to the signature elements that have made Princess Cruises so popular with guests around the world.
Blending familiar favourites with fresh, forward-thinking design, the Voyager Class ships will feature reimagined outdoor spaces, enhanced staterooms and a newly evolved Piazza concept at the heart of the ship. Guests can also expect a continuation of the exceptional dining, entertainment and relaxation experiences synonymous with the Princess name, alongside new concepts still to be revealed.
Importantly, these ships will also reflect a strong focus on sustainability. Like the recently introduced Sun Princess and Star Princess, the Voyager Class will be powered primarily by Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG), helping to significantly reduce emissions and support more responsible cruising.
‘The Voyager Class will delight both our loyal guests and attract the next generation of Princess guests. We have been leveraging extensive customer and agent research to strike the right balance between evolving our proven winners and introducing new concepts and partnerships grounded in what matters to our current and future guests,’ said Gus Antorcha, Princess Cruises president. ‘From exceptional dining and inviting pool environments to elevated entertainment and beautifully reimagined spaces throughout the ship, we are leaving no area untouched as we thoughtfully evolved the Princess experience.’
Each of the three ships will measure approximately 183,000 gross tons and carry around 4,700 guests, making them the largest in the Princess fleet to date. While full details on board features are yet to be unveiled, the line has confirmed that further announcements will follow as the designs are finalised.
Pierroberto Folgiero, CEO and managing director of Fincantieri, commented: ‘We are delighted to announce this new agreement with Princess Cruises, which confirms the strength of a long-standing and forward-looking partnership. These new orders secure a robust workload for our shipyards through 2039 and further support the profitable development of our cruise business, as outlined in our 2026 - 2030 Industrial Plan. With the new Voyager Class ships, we are once again leveraging Fincantieri’s distinctive expertise in sustainable, next-generation shipbuilding, supporting Princess Cruises in its growth trajectory and reaffirming our role as a trusted industrial partner for the evolution of the cruise industry.’
The announcement forms part of Carnival Corporation’s wider fleet development strategy, with the Voyager Class ships representing its 19th, 20th and 21st LNG-powered vessels. Alongside these new additions, the company already has several ships on order scheduled for delivery between 2027 and 2033, reflecting continued confidence in the growing demand for cruise holidays.
With innovation, sustainability and guest experience at its core, the Voyager Class signals an exciting future for Princess Cruises and for those excited for more adventures at sea.
