As the world begins to open up step by step, you may notice a number of our cruise line partners launching staycation cruises. After months of planning a phased return to cruising, the Government finally announced the exciting news that domestic cruising could return - a moment we’d all been waiting for! From 17th May 2021, cruise lines will be staying closer to home with an exciting range of staycation cruise itineraries. But just what is a staycation cruise?
What is a staycation cruise?
A staycation cruise is simply a no-fly voyage that sails closer to home, usually around the British Isles and sometimes a little further. These cruises usually last up to seven nights and depart from a range of UK ports. The itineraries are designed so passengers can immerse themselves in the destinations on their doorstep.
What do staycation cruises mean for the cruise industry?
The cruise industry sadly ground to a halt a year ago. The launch of staycation cruises is a positive step in the right direction, not only will cruise lines be able to return to sailing but we’ll be able to get back to doing what we love; exploring incredible destinations, dining on delectable dishes, being wowed by enthralling entertainment and making lifelong friends with fellow passengers.
We are very excited at the prospect of a partial return to the water and we know you are too - the desire to travel has certainly not dampened! We think the cruise industry and our cruise line partners have the right ingredients to make UK cruise staycations a success - with enhanced health and safety procedures, the experience will be safer than ever! And while travellers are looking for trips closer to home at the moment, we know that when the time comes, the appetite for travelling further afield will be exponential. We can’t wait!
