References to Bergern-born Edvard Grieg are scattered around the globally celebrated composer’s former home town. Seven mountains surround bergen, though Fløyen is undoubtedly the most well-known. The 850-metre-long Fløibanen electric cable funicular ascends its slopes, bringing captivated visitors 320 metres above sea level to embrace spectacular views of the area. Jump on the funicular from the city centre to enjoy the panoramic views or to tuck into a delicious meal at the Fløien folkerestaurant overlooking the city and fjords. The highest point, Fløyfjellet, is a short hike away at 399m above sea level. Other marked hiking trails will take you to nearby Varggen or over Vidden to Ulriken.
