Voted the Best Patriotic Attraction by USA Today, the Boston Tea Party Ships and Museum is the perfect place to immerse yourself in the history of this fine city. Billed as a ‘multi-sensory adventure’, this attraction allows you to take part in the event that changed the course of life in America. Live actors, authentically restored tea ships and interactive exhibits bring the story of the Boston Tea Party to life; you’ll meet the colonists, explore the ships and dump tea overboard just like the Sons of Liberty did on December 16, 1773.
If all that heritage wasn’t enough, you can walk in the footsteps of Boston’s forefathers on the city’s Freedom Trail. The USA’s first historical walking tour takes you on a journey of 16 significant sites over 2.5 miles, teaching you all you need to know about the American Revolution. The trail, which was preserved and dedicated by the city’s citizens in 1951, includes stops at the Benjamin Franklin statue, the site of the Boston Massacre, and the USS Constitution, a warship launched in 1797. You’ll also visit Faneuil Hall, a venue known as the home of free speech and the cradle of liberty.
As the home of the Boston Red Sox, the New England Patriots and the Boston Celtics amongst many other sporting teams, your stay in the city wouldn’t be complete without a visit to one or more of its stadia. Take in a baseball game at Fenway Park, where the Red Sox have played since 1912. Guided tours of the venue are also available, during which you’ll learn all about legends Williams, Yaz, Fisk and Rice amongst other fascinating snippets of team history. Be sure to also check out an American football game at the Gillette Stadium, home of the ever-popular Patriots.
