One of the city’s most significant landmarks is the Hohensalzburg Fortress, perched atop Festungsberg Hill. Salzburg is also renowned for being the birthplace of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and a visit to Mozart’s Birthplace in the heart of the Old Town is an immersion into the early life of this musical genius. The house, where Mozart was born in 1756, is now a museum dedicated to his life and work. Visitors can see historical instruments, documents and memorabilia associated with Mozart. The museum not only provides an insight into Mozart’s personal and family life but also into the 18th-century Salzburg that shaped his early years.
