Tromsø, often dubbed the Gateway to the Arctic, beckons visitors with its enchanting blend of urban sophistication and untouched wilderness.
The scenic Lyngen area is a landscape of jagged, snowy mountains, and a magnet for winter activities, with hikes, snowshoe walks and kayaking (weather permitting). Later, gather on the beach and enjoy the warmth of the bonfire. With hot drinks and Norwegian foods cooked by the onboard chefs, you'll feel at one with nature and if you're lucky, the Northern Lights will put on a display
Senja is Norway's second-largest island and it's sometimes called Norway-in-miniature. With rugged mountains, sandy beaches and idyllic fishing villages, you can see how it earned this name. Visit a local community and experience some warm Scandinavian hospitality. Learn about the Sámi culture and about life in remote villages during the winter months
As you sail towards the Lofoten Islands, the Expedition Team will seek out the best place for a nature landing, perhaps at one of the many fine beaches likely covered in snow. Approaching the dramatically steep mountains of Lofoten by ship is an experience that's unforgettable. You'll be in awe of the landscapes as you sail through the region of windswept islands, shelterd bays, and some of the most beautiful fjords in the world. Look out for Sea Eagles as you admire the beauty of this stretch of coastline
In winter, the Lofoten Islands transform into a snow-capped wonderland. Embark on a fishing trip from Svolvær or relax in a traditional Nordic sauna before taking a thrilling polar plunge - which is sure to revitalise you!
Sailing from Svolvær to Vesteralen, cruise through the narrow Trollfjord into the Raftsund strait, passing between towering cliffs. Vesteralen awaits you with its beautiful snow-capped landscapes, ideal for activities such as snowshow hiking and kayaking. Enjoy another bespoke adventure when you spend an evening at the Hurtigruten Museum, where you will be served dinner in this very special heritage setting
As the ship makes it's way back towards Tromsø, at every turn there will be a new island or mountain. The scenery continues to be stunning, with the winter sun illuminating the landscapes and mountains - and it's also the are where you're most likely to see whales. Whilst on board, enjoy the Arctic scenery, warm up in the sauna or join the Expedition Team to see demos in the Science Centre
