Holland America Line celebrates 147th anniversary

Celebrating 147 years of Holland America Line

Published on 29 Apr 2020

On Saturday the 18th of April 2020, Holland America Line celebrated their 147th anniversary. With travel paused globally, the cruise line reflected on the resilience that has been exhibited throughout the company’s history, enduring challenging times and emerging stronger thanks to loyal guests, dedicated crew and employees.

Founded on the 18th of April 1973, as the Netherlands-American Steamship Company, Holland America Line has welcomed more than 150 ships throughout the years. A third Pinnacle-class ship, Ryndam, is under construction at the Fincantieri shipyard in Italy and is scheduled for delivery in late Spring 2021.

Since its inception, Holland America Line has travelled to all seven continents, offered decades of world cruises and explored Alaska for more than 70 years. Each time a new ship joins the fleet, it’s a celebration of legacy and the beginning of a new chapter in the company’s history.

Here’s to many, many more years!
