ROL Cruise reviews Norwegian Cruise Line’s dazzling new ship
Published on 01 May 2025
When Norwegian Cruise Line invited members of the ROL Cruise team on their brand-new ship, Norwegian Aqua, we couldn’t wait to step onboard. It’s safe to say she surpassed all expectations.
From the moment we embarked, Norwegian Aqua wowed us with her contemporary design, calming colour palette, and elegant décor. She is a ship that strikes the perfect balance between grandeur and comfort, with sophisticated touches in every corner.
Dining onboard was a clear highlight for many of us. With an impressive variety of restaurants and bars, the culinary journey was as exciting as the destinations Norwegian Aqua sails to.
Onda by Scarpetta on Deck 8 was a firm favourite among the team. Megan loved her meal there, calling it one of her highlights, while Carly and Gesta raved about the service, ambience, and mouth watering dishes.
Meanwhile, Bronte gave a special mention to Hudson’s on Deck 7 and The Local Bar & Grill on Deck 8, noting that the food was consistently impressive. Morgen added that breakfast at Hudson’s - especially the eggs Benedict - was irresistible.
Thrill-seekers in our team couldn’t get enough of the Aqua Slidecoaster on Decks 18, 19 and 20, the world’s first hybrid rollercoaster and waterslide. Megan had a blast riding The Drop, while Carly and Gesta loved the variety of activities that ranged from waterpark excitement to VR arcades and karaoke at Syd Norman’s Pour House on Deck 7.
After the fun, relaxation beckoned. The Mandara Spa & Salon, located on Decks 15 and 16, left a lasting impression on many of us. Set over two levels, this serene sanctuary offered state-of-the-art saunas, a hue-lit pool, and indulgent treatments. Helen described it as “advanced and beautiful,” while Bronte shared her luxurious experience with a Fire and Ice Manicure - a hot stone massage and aromatherapy treatment that left her relaxed and rejuvenated.
Norwegian Aqua’s entertainment was another standout feature. Several of us attended the Revolution: Celebration of Prince tribute show, which we unanimously agreed was worthy of the West End. The production, energy, and audience interaction were unforgettable.
From Broadway-calibre shows in the Aqua Theater & Club on Decks 7 and 8 to impromptu karaoke nights and live bands, there was no shortage of evening entertainment to enjoy.
The ship may be large, but it never felt overwhelming. Our cabins - particularly the mid-ship balcony staterooms - were comfortable and well-designed, offering plenty of storage and showers that exceeded expectations.
“The shower was amazing,” Rachel remarked. “And the kids’ facilities were so impressive - I’m already planning a return visit with my family.”
Those lucky enough to visit The Haven on Deck 16, Norwegian Cruise Line’s exclusive suite area, described it as peaceful, refined and ideal for those seeking a quieter luxury escape onboard.
Whether relaxing with a martini at the Vibe Beach Club on Deck 17, sipping espresso martinis in the Whiskey Bar on Deck 6, or enjoying 2 a.m. fish and chips at The Local, Norwegian Aqua offered something for every personality - and every mood.
As Morgen perfectly summed up, “From bikinis to martinis, Norwegian Aqua truly delivered an unforgettable experience.”
