Budapest at night

The inaugural Cruisers’ Choice Destinations Awards by Cruise Critic have released ratings for this year’s top cruise destination.

Based on customer reviews posted to its own site between July 1st 2016 and June 30th 2017, Cruise Critic is a leading review site and community. This is the second year for the award, which names the number one cruise destination in fifteen different regions across the world.

Despite the large number of categories covering worldwide cruise ports and destinations, the popular European river cruise stop, Budapest, was named the Best Cruise Destination of 2017. Reviewers credited the city’s rich history and architecture for its appeal.

Speaking about the results, Colleen McDaniel, Senior Executive Editor of Cruise Critic, said:

"Itineraries are incredibly important to today's cruisers who are more focused than ever on where they're going and what they can do while they're there.

"Cruise lines have focused on expanding their offerings to quench that thirst for exploration – and this year's list of winning destinations shows the wide array of adventures cruising offers. You can sail among the glaciers in Alaska's Glacier Bay, feel like a character on Game of Thrones in Dubrovnik or relax in a private island cabana in Castaway Cay – the options are endless."
