ROL Cruise recommends...

1. See the spectacular Sydney Opera House

Sydney Opera House was opened by Queen Elizabeth II in 1973. Since then, this magnificent venue has staged more than 100,000 performances and received over 100 million visitors. In 2007, the Sydney Opera House was named a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Make sure you get a photo in front of this impressive building, or spend your evening seeing a show there.

2. Appreciate the city’s flora and fauna

Just a stone’s throw away from the Sydney Opera House and covering a sizeable 74 acres, the Royal Botanic Garden is a beautiful showcase of Australia’s native flora and fauna. Taronga Zoo is also especially popular with visitors – here you’ll meet the cutest, cuddliest, most endangered and most downright dangerous (but not right up close) of Australia’s incredible wildlife.

3. Climb the Sydney Harbour Bridge

If you have a head for heights then you’ll love Sydney Harbour Bridge. Bridge Tours will take you to the very top of this 134 metre giant. You’ll see breathtaking views of Sydney, the Harbour and the Opera House. Alternatively, if you don’t feel like a daredevil, the South Pylon offers equally spectacular views!

4. Tour the Blue Mountains

Just an hour away from West Sydney are the amazing Three Sisters in the Blue Mountains. Whichever of the legends you believe brought these into being, each and every one of the millions of visitors to Sydney’s Blue Mountains are glad they did. The rock formation is said to change colour as the day progresses and is lit up at night so it stands out against the night sky.

5. Dip your toes in the water

Life really is a beach in Sydney – this city boasts more than 40 of them. The glorious Bondi Beach is the most famous and the place to go to watch surfers catch waves, while Maroubra Beach is a lovely location for a barbeque and simply watching the world go by. If you fancy a double dose of fun in the sun, take the popular Bondi Beach to Coogee Beach coastal walk – the stroll takes around two hours and features rock pools, secluded bays and magnificent clifftop views. It’s the perfect way to spend a sunny afternoon.
