Home of the Kennedy Space Center
Cape Canaveral is the home of a launch site where many astronauts began their ascent into space. Since 1968 the Kennedy Space Center has been NASA’s primary launch centre of human spaceflight. Visitors can learn about all aspects of space including astronaut training, discovering the heroes and legends of space travel and seeing the Atlantis Space Shuttle up close.
Canaveral National Seashore
South of New Smyrna Beach and nestled between the Atlantic Ocean and the Indian River, is the Canaveral National Seashore, a glorious national park spanning 57,000 acres. The seashore is one of the longest stretches of pristine coastline in America. The area has provided a wonderful sanctuary for a variety of wildlife and many endangered species find shelter here, including sea turtles which nest on the sandy shores.
See animals up close
There are many opportunities for visitors to get a glimpse of some amazing species thanks to the array of animal sanctuaries and zoos in and around Cape Canaveral. Witness gentle giants swimming at the Manatee Sanctuary Park or enjoy the 35-acres of lush parklands at Jetty Park where visitors can spend time fishing off the pier.
An alternative way to see the sights
