Embark Queen Elizabeth for your 29 night voyage
From the impressive Golden Gate Bridge to the famous Alcatraz Island, you’ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to things to see and do in the city by the Bay.
Los Angeles is a hub of glamour, ambition and hard-work. Enjoy its laid-back beachfront living, prestigious museums and galleries, fashionable celebrity haunts and exhilarating theme parks.
On the southern tip of the Mexican peninsula that borders California, its dramatic coastline, protected marine reserves and fun-filled bars make it a popular destination for sun-kissed adventure.
Puntarenas, which means "Sandy Point" in Spanish, is the capital and main city in the province Puntarenas, Costa Rica, at the Pacific coast. The oddly-shaped province has its largest section in the South, far from the capital. A mountainous country, Costa Rica ranges from sea level to peaks as high as 13,000 feet and a succession of white, sandy beaches follow one another along the Pacific Coast. The country was discovered by Christopher Columbus in 1502.
Undeniably, Panama’s biggest attraction is the Panama Canal, a modern day wonder of the world. Constructed between 1903 and 1914, the canal’s three locks allow 14,000 boats a year to cross a 48 mile body of water from the Pacific Ocean to the Atlantic.
Brightly coloured houses, vibrant street life, a distinct buzz in the air – all are part of the experience when you visit the Schooner Market and watch merchants sell exotic fruit and fresh fish direct from tiny boats.
Fort Lauderdale stands on South Florida’s Gold Coast, a charming meeting of canals and beaches. There’s also a chance to venture into Miami or experience the sawgrass expanse of the Everglades. Fort Lauderdale was named for the series of forts built on this stretch of swampy shore in the 1700s for protection against Seminole Indians. In the late 1800s, the boggy land was repurposed by digging out a series of canals to leave long strips of land in between. This created a greater habitable area as well as 300 miles of waterways. And so the ‘Venice of America’ was born. Today these man-made inlets have millionaire yachts moored along their banks and lavish mansions at their edge.
The 180 or so islands that make up Bermuda create a welcoming stepping-stone in the Atlantic. Its capital, Hamilton, is a vision of pastel houses to match the famous pink beaches. Bermuda is a British Overseas Territory that was first settled by the English in the early 1600s.
Funchal, an inviting city with a bustling marina, a cobbled centre, a museum dedicated to Cristiano Ronaldo, and an ascending backdrop of mountains just waiting to be explored.
Cadiz has been a popular port, trading post and base for exploration for around 3,000 years and the influence of its varied past makes it a fascinating city to explore.
Barcelona’s stunning blend of intriguing architecture, irrepressible culture, exquisite food and inviting beaches means that it is truly a destination that has something for everyone.
