Encompassing all the style and charm that made people first fall in love with cruising, Black Watch exudes a friendly and familiar atmosphere, in which the attentive staff strive to remember not only your name, but how you like your eggs in the morning. Enjoy the peaceful atmosphere and stylish décor as you cruise across the ocean with grace and refinement.
Built in Finland in 1972, the Black Watch began its life as the Royal Viking Star and was considered one of the most luxurious vessels to grace the waters. It joined the Fred. Olsen fleet in 1996 and was christened with its current name, retaining the sleekness in style and welcoming ambience that had enamoured previous passengers. The major refurbishment that took place in November 2016 has brought the Black Watch up to date once again, with upgraded technology, fresh décor and brand new restaurants.
All 804 guests will find their perfect home-from-from home aboard Black Watch. Ranging in size from 140 to 550 square feet, guests are guaranteed to find a space that suits them. Every room includes a hair dryer, television, a tea and coffee station, and en-suite bathroom.
The Interior room is decorated in light blues and bright whites, exuding a fresh and airy atmosphere throughout the cabin. The Ocean View rooms provide ample room for guests to relax and enjoy the beautiful sights as they sail past.
The Balcony rooms are larger in size, and feature either a private balcony for guests to relax on, or a terrace balcony that leads straight onto the open promenade of Lido Deck 7. Embrace the natural healing properties of fresh sea air, as you feel the wind breeze over your skin. Indulge further in the any one of the eight Suite accommodations, which benefit from the inclusion of a separate seating area and sun loungers on the balcony of selected rooms. Be welcomed aboard with a bottle of sparkling wine and a basket of fresh fruit when you enhance your cruise experience with the ‘Suite Dreams’ package, offering thoughtful conveniences such as a complimentary shuttle service to excursions, a pair of binoculars, a world atlas, an umbrella, luxury towels and a pressing service for formal wear.
Nowhere showcases the spectacular service of the staff quite like the on board dining venues of Black Watch. The Glentanar and The Orchid Restaurant together serve as the main dining space, split between two rooms of differing décor. Enjoy a five-course experience of sublime dishes, from a light Norwegian salmon starter to a hearty slow roasted duck confit for main course. End the meal with a sinful dessert, perfectly executed and beautifully presented.
The Garden Café is a more intimate space, serving the same menu as the main restaurant through means of a buffet. This is the place to be if you’re after a midnight snack, with both hot and cold food available from the late-night supper club from 11pm until midnight.
Experience something new with speciality restaurant, The Grill for an additional fee. The resident chefs have designed a creative menu of dishes, all of which are cooked to perfection. Traditional meat and seafood dishes are available, freshly prepared and made from the finest ingredients. The Observatory Lounge is the most scenic position on board to enjoy an Afternoon Tea - here guests can enjoy views of the ocean waves as they experience the white glove service perfectly complemented by music from the Rosario Trio.
The Neptune Lounge offers the main entertainment of the ship, with a selection of music, comedy, and magic performances, never failing to amaze the spectators in the audience.
