Like many ships in the Hurtigruten fleet, MS Richard With is a working ship, carrying cruisers, cargo, mail, cars, day-trippers and local passengers who might only be on board for a couple of days, or even hours, as they travel between ports along Norway's coast. For this reason, she offers a unique cruising experience – and an authentic means of seeing Norway’s beautiful coastline, ports and towns.
The ship is proudly named after the line’s founder, Captain Richard With, who established the Norwegian Coastal Express back in 1893. Connecting villages, towns and cities, his line had an incredible impact on life along the Norwegian coast. Adorned with beautiful art by the famous Harr family, guests can expect a relaxed and informal atmosphere on board MS Richard With, and the promise of stunning scenery, and frequent wildlife and seabird sightings.
Guests can choose from three cabin categories: Inside, Polar Outside and Arctic Superior; and two suite categories: Expedition Mini Suites and Expedition Suites. Exhibition Suites are bathed in natural light from floor-to-ceiling windows, offering spectacular views from the privacy of your own cabin. Relaxation and comfort are the hallmarks of the Arctic Superior cabins, with their clean, modern décor. The bright Polar Outside cabins are a light and spacious option, while the Polar Inside cabins offer guests a warm and cosy stay.
Experience authentic Norwegian cuisine and eat like a true local with Hurtigruten’s unique dining concept, Norway's Coastal Kitchen. Guaranteeing seasonal, fresh food from the local area, the talented chefs proudly tell the story of the local coastline through their delicious dishes. The Polar Restaurant is the main dining venue, with windows on three sides providing plenty of natural light and of course, showcasing the spectacular views. For a more intimate dining venue, Raftsundet Restaurant seats up to 38 guests and offers a delicious a la carte menu, with high-end ingredients such as king crab, lobster, halibut, scallops and steak. For lighter snacks, the Los Holtes Café will satisfy your every need, with an array of salads and sandwiches, and hot and cold drinks.
Hurtigruten proudly emphasise the spectacular beauty of the natural environment and the relaxing ambience on board their ships. As such, the Horisont Panorama Lounge is a favourite day time venue, with its floor-to-ceiling windows, showcasing the breath-taking views of the unfolding scenery. The Draugen Lounge and Bar, with its close proximity to the restaurants and café, is a popular venue for a pre- or post-dinner drink, with plenty of space to mingle with other passengers or relax in a comfortable chair. At night, guests will want to keep an eye out for shooting stars or the emerald-streaked display of the Northern Lights. When crossing the Arctic Circle, the crew treat guests to a light-hearted ceremony, following which guests receive a Polar Circle certificate signed by the captain. One of the delights of cruising aboard the MS Richard With is that you are rarely out of sight of land and there are many opportunities to stop and explore along the way.
