P&O Cruises will soon be welcoming a new addition to their fleet, Iona. During her maiden season, Iona will be dedicated to navigating the majestic waters of the Norwegian Fjords allowing you to embrace this incredible destination like never before.
Carrying 5,200 guests, Iona will be P&O Cruises most environmentally friendly ship. Her innovative design will deliver the ability to bring the outside in, meaning you will be able to connect with the sea, sky and shoreline like you never imagined. She will offer the ultimate cruise experience, pairing with some of the world’s leading experts in hospitality, interior design, architects and cruise ship designers and builders. The on board experience will be full of excitement, much like the destination. Introducing the Conservatory Mini Suite; an exciting new addition. Bring the outdoors in with a personal and versatile conservatory-style room that forms an extension to the suite. This space, which includes stylish L-shaped seating, can be closed off or left open according to the time of day or mood. In the morning keep it closed to enjoy a quiet coffee overlooking the ocean. By day it opens out fully onto the balcony. With a direct connection to the sea, the space is cool and shaded, perfect for relaxing. In the evening, it transforms into a spacious environment for private celebrations and socialising over pre-dinner drinks with friends and family. Leading directly onto the balcony, all configurations of this flexible space offer glorious seascape views.
Suites are always special, giving guests the ultimate experience of relaxation in their own boutique hotel haven. The suites on Iona take this to another level of comfort and style. The design direction is one of contemporary comfort and elegance, a luxurious space is created as the doors of interconnecting rooms open fully to create a larger, brighter studio ambience.
There is an exciting array of options combining brand new dining and drinking concepts with much-loved signature venues to give new meaning to the word choice. With 29 different venues to choose from, there truly is something for everyone. A P&O Cruises first, Iona will exclusively offer Freedom Dining in the main restaurants. This puts you in the driving seat, offering you the flexibility to dine with friends and family any time from 6.00pm to 9.00pm. On board you’ll find The Quays, an exciting foodie piazza offering a great range of self-service and takeaway venues and a lively atmosphere for sociable dining. Within The Quays, a host of new dining venues showcasing cuisines from around the world will create a vibrant buzz; from American dinner classics to Asian fast food favourites.
The Keel and Cow, another foodie first, is a fabulous British gastropub serving hearty pub fare. The 710 Club serves up live music and stylish cocktails, the perfect combination to let the good times roll long into the night.
Of course, it’s not just about the new. Iona also celebrates the best P&O Cruises dining and drinking traditions with favourites such as Brodie’s, The Crow’s Nest, The Epicurean, Sindhu and The Beach House along with pool bars, a pizzeria and a grill.
It’s all about the music at The 710 Club, a secret-haven exclusively for adults in which to relax and enjoy the musical atmosphere. A retreat during the day, at night it transforms into a sophisticated venue hosting a diverse range of top class singers and bands.
One for the film buffs, Ocean Studios on Deck 6 offers a warm welcome, comfortable seating and a relaxing environment in which to be entertained and enjoy a premium cinema experience. Four cinema screens will show both classics and recent blockbusters in surround sound.
A major new entertainment venue, SkyDome will be one of Iona’s star attractions. Set on Deck 16 and Deck 17 and featuring an impressive roof and a pool with a retractable stage, it offers a unique space whatever the weather and the time of day. By day it’s the perfect place for relaxation and informal dining, with a swimming pool, whirlpool spa and poolside features and shaded seating areas. By night, it comes alive with aerial performances, immersive shows and deck parties. Above it all is a glazed dome roof designed by award winning British engineers Eckersley O’Callaghan, the team behind glass masterpieces such as London’s Embassy Gardens Sky Pool and Bulgari’s flagship New York boutique.
For the evening, Headliners Theatre is perfect for a fun-filled night out on board. Classic yet contemporary, it offers a sleek and sophisticated theatre experience. A two deck high auditorium ensures everyone has the best view in the house. During the day, enjoy matinee performances and activities. When night falls, full scale production shows hit the stage.
Created by award-winning wine expert and P&O Cruises Food Hero, Olly Smith, The Glass House is for lovers of fine wine and great food. The premium wine bar boasts an impressive wine list curated by Olly and offers a sophisticated environment in which to enjoy breakfast, a light lunch, a leisurely glass of wine or an evening meal with family or newfound friends. Wine connoisseurs are well taken care of: Cellar Door at The Glass House offers wine talks, tastings and wine-pairing dinners. Its also in prime position to enjoy the grand Atrium’s aerial performances, as well as magnificent views out to the horizon.
P&O Cruises recently announced an exclusive partnership with award-winning distillers, Salcombe Gin, to deliver the very first distillery at sea on Iona.
The gins maiden distillation will take place in Iona’s custom made gin still on board; innovated by Craft Distilling Business, this is the first distillery to exist at sea. The gin will be produced, bottled and labelled on board, allowing guests on Iona to be the first to enjoy the brilliant flavours of the deliciously smooth and one-of-a-kind gin.
