MS Roald Amundsen has a range of accommodations for you to choose from. Polar Outside cabins, located on the middle decks, are ideal if you’re looking for a practical yet welcoming space with great views. Ranging from 183 to 248 square feet, these cabins feature large picture windows that frame the passing scenery, perfect for watching the world go by from the comfort of your bed. With flexible layouts that include twin or double beds, and in some cases a sofa bed, they’re well-suited to couples, solo travellers or close companions. Each comes with a flat-screen TV, minibar, safe, kettle, and tea and coffee-making facilities, as well as a modern en-suite bathroom stocked with toiletries.
For those who like a little extra space, Arctic Superior cabins are located on the higher decks for better views and added peace and quiet. Measuring between 161 and 248 square feet, many of these cabins come with private balconies - a lovely spot for enjoying the sea air in solitude. Interiors are bright and Scandinavian in style, and include flexible sleeping arrangements, comfortable seating, and practical extras such as a TV, safe, minibar, and hot drink facilities. As with all cabins onboard, you’ll find an en-suite shower room complete with eco-friendly toiletries.
If you’re looking to elevate your voyage, the Expedition Suites are the most spacious and refined accommodations on MS Roald Amundsen, ranging from 237 to 517 square feet. Each suite features large windows and a private balcony - some even come with their own hot tub. Decorated in natural tones with plush furnishings, these suites offer a calm and elegant retreat after a day of exploration. Guests staying in a suite can also enjoy extra touches like an espresso machine, bathrobes and slippers, and a well-stocked minibar.
Entertainment on MS Roald Amundsen isn’t about big productions - it’s the destinations that steal the show.
With the support of the brilliant Expedition Team, every wildlife sighting, landing and onboard lecture becomes part of the journey. That’s not to say life onboard is quiet - you’ll find plenty of inviting spaces to relax, reflect and enjoy the views in between adventures. The Science Centre on Deck 6 is the heart of the ship and a real highlight of the onboard experience. This bright, interactive space is packed with clever technology, hands-on exhibits and fascinating resources, all designed to bring the destinations to life. It’s where guests and the Expedition Team come together - sharing knowledge, discoveries and the occasional story from the field. Whether you’re popping in for a talk, flicking through a book in the library or joining a workshop, it’s a great place to spend your time at sea.
Just along from the Science Centre, the onboard shop is small but thoughtfully stocked, offering everything from useful gear for your next landing to souvenirs with a sense of place. It’s perfect if you need an extra layer, a piece of kit or something special to remember your voyage by.
The Expedition Launch Pad on Deck 3 is where the action begins. This purpose-built area makes getting ready for your shore landings quick and easy, with lockers, kit-up zones, and space to get sorted before heading off to explore. With the Expedition Team always nearby to offer advice or lend a hand, it’s all very smooth and well-organised. You’ll also find several Observation Decks on board, including spacious outdoor areas on Decks 7 and 11 and an indoor area on Deck 6. Whether you’re scanning the waves for signs of life or simply enjoying the passing scenery, these decks offer unbeatable views and a real sense of connection to the places you’re sailing through.
MS Roald Amundsen offers a relaxed yet refined dining experience, with three venues to choose from - two included as part of your cruise and one speciality restaurant.
The main dining venue, Restaurant Aune, is located on Deck 6 and serves as the culinary heart of the ship. Named after one of Hurtigruten’s historic suppliers, the restaurant reflects the company’s Norwegian roots while embracing fresh, global flavours. Here, you’ll enjoy a daily-changing menu built around sustainable, locally sourced ingredients, with hearty breakfasts, varied lunches and beautifully presented evening meals inspired by the regions you’re exploring. Also on Deck 6 is Restaurant Fredheim, the ship’s more casual and sociable dining space. Inspired by the old hunting cabins of Svalbard, Restaurant Fredheim offers a relaxed setting and an internationally themed menu focused on comfort food. It’s a great spot for light bites, plant-based options, sweet treats or a laid-back meal with fellow guests.
For something a little more special, Restaurant Lindstrøm awaits on Deck 9. This speciality restaurant offers a fine dining experience that blends Nordic heritage with modern presentation. Menus rotate every couple of days, showcasing high-quality, locally inspired dishes. Suite guests can dine here at no extra cost, while other guests are welcome to book for an additional charge, subject to availability.
When it’s time to unwind with a drink, head up to the Explorer Lounge & Bar on Deck 10. With its panoramic floor-to-ceiling windows and warm, Scandi-inspired interiors, it’s the perfect place to relax after a day of adventure - whether you’re enjoying a quiet moment with a good book or chatting with fellow travellers as the world drifts by outside.
Perched beside the infinity pool on Deck 10, the Pool Bar offers an easy-going, al fresco setting that’s perfect for lounging with a drink in hand. Whether you’re cooling off after a bracing dip or unwinding with a cocktail in the hot tub, this casual spot serves up refreshing drinks.
MS Roald Amundsen offers a well-considered selection of relaxation and fitness facilities - compact, yet more than enough to help you unwind or stay active as you sail.
On Deck 7, you’ll find the ship’s main indoor gym, kitted out with Technogym cardio equipment, free weights and yoga mats for stretching or floor workouts. Right next door is the Wellness Centre, where you can book a soothing massage or facial - ideal after a day of exploring ashore.
Deck 10 is all about unwinding with a view. At the aft, you’ll discover a heated infinity pool and two hot tubs, offering spectacular, uninterrupted sea views. Just steps away is the ship’s panoramic sauna, where you can relax and take in the scenery as the world slips by outside the large windows.
If you prefer to keep your workouts outdoors, head up to Deck 11. This open-air space features a small outdoor gym with functional exercise stations and a 150-metre running track - perfect for a brisk morning jog or a gentle walk in the fresh sea air.
HX travels to over 250 destinations across more than 30 countries, spanning five continents. MS Roald Amundsen sails her guests to some of the world’s most impressive destinations, like North America, South America, and the Polar Regions.

“MS Roald Amundsen is the perfect ‘basecamp’ for the adventure of a lifetime. I particularly loved the Explorer Lounge & Bar, with its large windows and plenty of comfortable seating - the perfect spot to watch the unbelievable vistas and wildlife from. What really brought the experience to life was the Expedition Team, who truly are experts in their field and really enhanced the whole journey.” - Amber Bellinger, ROL Cruise
