What is a winter cruise?

A winter cruise is simply a voyage that departs in December, January or February. One of the main reasons people choose to book winter cruises is to avoid crowds. It’s inevitable that popular tourist destinations are likely to be calmer outside of the summer holidays. If peace and quiet are important to you, then opting for a winter cruise is wise.

Which destinations can you sail to on a winter cruise?

Escaping the gloomy British winter is an excellent reason to book a winter cruise. With hundreds of destinations to choose from including the Caribbean and the Mediterranean, and a wide range of cruise lines, you can leave the gloomy winter behind to bask in the sunshine. If you’re seeking something a little different, why not head to Dubai, Morocco or sunny Madeira? You can discover an entirely new culture while enjoying the winter sun on a cruise.

Or, head further afield to Central or South America? Costa Rica is a haven for wildlife and winter is a notably good time to visit, with comfortable temperatures in the mid to high 20s. As the peak tourism season will be over, there will be fewer crowds, you can go at your own pace. Mexico is another exciting winter cruise destination, offering fascinating historical sites, beautiful beaches and wildlife. If you’ve always dreamed of sipping daiquiris in Havana, why not cruise to Cuba this winter? November to April is the dry season there, so you can expect blue skies and low humidity for your cultural Caribbean getaway.
