A detailed look at Emerald Sakara’s Balcony Suites

Last month, my colleague Poppy and I were lucky enough to spend four nights aboard Emerald Sakara. This was my first time sailing with Emerald Yacht Cruises and also my first ever time on a yacht.  

Emerald Sakara has 50 cabins: six oceanview cabins, 38 balcony cabins and six suites, all of which have a variety of thoughtful amenities. During our cruise, Poppy and I were in cabin 418, a Balcony Suite on Deck 4. Here are the facilities and amenities that were available to us: 

• The bathroom has a single sink, a shower with a glass door, and a toilet. 
• In terms of storage, the bathroom has two drawers under the sink, two rails for towels and two hooks.
• There are five fixed products: Jasmine and Bergamot hand wash and moisturiser by the sink, and Jasmine and Bergamot shower gel, shampoo and conditioner in the shower. 
• There are two bath towels, two hand towels, two flannels and two bath mats. 
• There is a full-length mirror on the back of the door, a large mirror above the sink and a small magnified mirror next to the sink. 
• A clothes line extends from one corner of the shower to the other, and a bin is positioned next to the toilet. 
• In the drawers under the sink, there are two vanity kits, two shaving kits, two shower caps, two combs, a hairdryer, tissues and extra loo roll. 

• The bedroom has twin beds that can be converted to a queen, two duvets and four pillows. There are no bedside tables as such; instead, there are shelves next to the bed. There is also a dressing table with a chair. 
• Storage-wise, three floor-length wardrobes house six drawers, two of which are designed to hold shoes. Next to the dressing table are four deep drawers. The leather panel at the end of each bed comes away for suitcase storage. 
• In the wardrobes, you’ll find a safe, two bathrobes and two pairs of slippers, two umbrellas, a shoe horn and plenty of removable wooden hangers. 
• There is a large mirror above the dressing table. 
• There is ample lighting, with reading lights next to the bed, and spotlights in the ceiling. 
• There are six universal plugs with USB ports in the bedroom and living area. 
• On the dressing table is a telephone, a box of tissues and two Quietvoxes. Beneath the dressing table is a bin. 

• There is a small two-seater sofa, a chair with a footstool and a side table. 
• There is a mini-fridge stocked with cans of soft drinks and beer. The tea and coffee-making facilities consist of a kettle, a coffee machine, an assortment of tea and coffee, two glasses and two bottles of water. 
• Behind the chair is a full-length mirror. 
• Above the tea and coffee-making facilities is a flat-screen television. 
• There is a curtain and an electronically-controlled blackout blind to block out light from the balcony. 

• The balcony has a table and two chairs with removable cushions. 
• A sliding door provides access to the balcony. 

A few further things to know. Emerald Yacht Cruises provides a daily paper programme which is placed in your cabin (alongside chocolates) during turndown service. Cabins are serviced twice a day, once mid-morning and once in the evening. There is a switch next to the cabin door that signals whether or not you’d like your cabin serviced.
