A detailed look at Queen Mary 2’s Balcony Suites

ROL Cruise team member Jack recently enjoyed a voyage to the idyllic Norwegian Fjords aboard Cunard’s Queen Mary 2. It was his first sailing on the iconic ocean liner, and the experience certainly lived up to expectations. 

Queen Mary 2 is home to 1,046 guest staterooms, including 162 Inside Staterooms, 146 Oceanview Staterooms, 611 Balcony Staterooms, and 127 Suites. Each accommodation category features a range of thoughtful amenities designed to ensure guests can relax in comfort throughout their voyage. 

During his sailing, Jack stayed in Cabin 4223, a BY Grade sheltered Balcony Stateroom located aft on the starboard side of the ship. Offering a private outdoor space from which to enjoy the sea views, it provided an excellent base for the voyage. 

Here, we take a closer look at the facilities and amenities available within this accommodation category. 

• The bathroom has a single sink, a shower with a shower curtain, and a toilet. 
• In terms of storage, the bathroom benefits from two cupboards with a shelf in each, a cupboard with a bin, two towel racks for hand towels, and three towel rails. 
• There are two bath towels, two hand towels, and two flannels. 
• The fixed products include: Penhalligon’s Quercus liquid soap and hand & body lotion, and Penhalligon’s Quercus shampoo and bath and shower gel in the shower. 
• There are two soap bar holders, two small glasses attached to the wall for toothbrushes, and two small glass corner shelves located above the sink for additional toiletries. 
• There is one large mirror with a light above it situated above the sink. 
• The bathroom also benefits from cotton pads, tissues, and extra loo roll. 

• The bedroom boasts a comfortable king-size bed, which can be converted into two twin beds. It’s topped with four pillows, a duvet, two small cushions, and a stylish bed runner. There are two mirrors located on either side of the headboard, and two bedside tables. On top of each bedside table, there is a lamp.
• In terms of storage, there are three floor-length wardrobes, one half-length wardrobe in which you’ll find a safe and life jackets, and four drawers. 
• Inside the wardrobes, there are approximately 20 hangers 
• There is one full-length mirror, situated near the door.
• There is one Samsung TV with a remote control 
• An air conditioning unit helps keep the climate to your preference 

• There is a two-seater sofa with two cushions 
• You’ll also find a mid-sized coffee table 
• A vanity area is complete with a comfortable chair, a mirror, and a desk, featuring two UK sockets and two US sockets, one slimline drawer, a two-compartment document holder, a kettle with tea-making facilities, plus two water glasses, two Champagne flutes, and two wine glasses. A further drawer beneath the kettle station houses the hairdryer.
• A mini-fridge is filled with soft drinks, including Coke, Diet Coke, Tango, San Pellegrino, and Peroni, as well as wine, with a small upper shelf. 
• There is a curtain to block out light from the balcony. 

• The balcony is furnished with two chairs and one small side table. 
• A door provides access to the balcony.
