A member of the Reader Offers Ltd team has taken on an extreme challenge to raise money for St Elizabeth Hospice. Beth Holland, our Customer Services Team Leader has abseiled down the ArcelorMittal Orbit in the Olympic Park last month.
The Orbit, which is the red structure at the Queen Elizabeth Park, is the UK’s tallest sculpture, standing at 114.5m tall, offering 20-mile views across the city. Beth took on the challenging of abseiling down the orbit, which is the UK’s highest free-fall abseil. She safely completed the challenge and has raised an incredible £500 for the charity, which is very close to her heart.
Beth says, “I spent time working for the St Elizabeth Hospice as a Community Fundraiser and was amazed by the palliative care they provide. Their services cost £9.1 million a year to run and over three quarters of this must be found through fundraising and donations.
“Since leaving the hospice to work for Reader Offers, I have continued to volunteer and fundraise for them. This is the first abseil I have completed, but I have completed many challenges for them in the past, including a sky dive, the Christmas Day Dip, the Midnight Walk, walking on broken glass and on fire, and many others!
“I can honestly say it was the most nerve-wracking experience of my life but it was worth it to raise money for the hospice, which carries out such important work.”
A number of friends and colleagues here at Reader Offers Ltd have donated to Beth’s fundraising and are all very proud of her efforts and the money she has raised for the charity.
