Staff stories: Our favourite spaces on Iona

Our favourite spaces onboard Iona, one of P&O Cruises’ newest and most innovative ships

Published on 15 May 2023

Last month, three lucky members of the ROL Cruise team got to spend the day aboard one of P&O Cruises’ newest and most innovative ships, IonaDocked in Southampton for the day, the team were given exclusive access to Iona’s cabins and suites, restaurants, bars, entertainment venues and wellness areas. Here, they describe their favourite spaces onboard:

Oasis Spa - Madison

Deck 6

“One of my favourite places onboard Iona was Oasis Spa. As soon as we stepped into the reception area, the relaxing aromas filled the air and I immediately felt at ease. As we took the spiral staircase down to the treatment rooms and hydrotherapy pool, the beautiful decor created a peaceful environment and I was certain that if I ever got the chance to go onboard again, I would definitely book a treatment or two!”

Infinity Pool - Olivia

Deck 16

Iona is a very special ship so it’s difficult to pick just one space onboard. The Skydome, Beachcombers Pool and Bar and Grand Atrium all stood out to me but it was the Infinity Pool on Deck 16 that I really fell in love with. I could imagine myself relaxing beneath the warmth of the sun with the glorious backdrop of the Mediterranean and a delicious cocktail waiting for me at my sunbed. One day soon!”

Skydome - Jack

Decks 16 and 17

“As soon as you step onboard and go through to the Grand Atrium, you’re invited in by the sparkling staircase glistening in the daylight. One thing that I noticed about Iona was the amount of natural light that she offers. She would be the perfect ship to sail the Norwegian Fjords as, wherever you went onboard, you’d be able to see the beautiful fjords through the many windows. One of my favourite sections on the ship has to be the Skydome, a huge space with so much natural light and transformative dependent on the requirement, meaning it’s the perfect space for relaxation or live music.”
