A city with an old-world culture

ROL Cruise recommends…

A lively pedestrian boulevard

Knez Mihailova is the main pedestrian and shopping boulevard in Belgrade making it one of the busiest and fast-paced areas of the city. The streets that surround the area were named after Mihailo Obrenović III, Prince of Serbia who ruled between 1839 and 1842 and also features a number of historic and architecturally-brilliant mansions and palaces.

An resurrected riverside district

A riverside location that has been brought back to life over recent years, Savamala has long been home to industrial creatives looking to revive the tired and crumbling facades of the area. Transformed into a hubbub of hip restaurants, bars and eateries with fabulous views across the river, wondering these streets you’ll come across romantic meeting points like the Bašta Jazz Terrace and the Brankov Bridge. Travel uphill and confront yourself with the baroque-style walls that mark the oldest part of the town.

At one with nature

For anyone that visits Belgrade, the vast forest parks that lie in the south of the city. Originally home to hunting grounds to the royal family, they are now home to huge walking trails, swimming pools and even a ski slope - the perfect place to enjoy a picnic whilst admiring the wonderful scenery that surrounds you. Head to the Topčider and witness the scale of the famous sycamore tree that was first planted in the 19th century.

A step back in time

Whilst wandering around the city, the vast amount of impressive historic architecture will become apparent. Countless battles have been fought holding two thousand years of precious historic facts. Head to the Roman Well, the Nebojša Tower and the Military Museum where you can delve deeper into the history of this mysterious settlement.
