Canal at sunset, Amsterdam

Although equally famous for its rebellious contemporary edginess, Amsterdam is a picturesque city with a fascinating history and rich artistic heritage.

Cruise & Maritime Voyages | Columbus

Kirkwall, Orkney Islands Fri 06 Sep 2019

The capital and administrative centre of the Orkney Islands, set on the principal island known as Mainland. The Orkneys comprise 70 or so islands, rocks and skerries that cover an area of 376 square miles. You can still detect the Norse influence and the Stone Age settlement at Skara Brae, older than either the Pyramids or Stonehenge, is fascinating.

Portree, Isle of Skye

Portree, Isle of Skye Sat 07 Sep 2019

Portree, Isle of Skye

Portree, capital of the Isle of Skye, is the largest of the Inner Hebrides, renowned in history and song and well known for its iconic castles and natural beauty. Pay your respects to one of Scotland’s real heroines, Flora McDonald, who rescued Bonnie Prince Charlie and took him ‘over the sea to Skye’.

Tobermory, Isle of Mull

Tobermory, Isle of Mull Sun 08 Sep 2019

Tobermory, Isle of Mull

Genteel describes the lovely Georgian harbourfront architecture of the little town of Tobermory, whilst rugged is a more apt description for the wild moorland and mountainous interior of the Isle of Mull. Take a trip on the Mull Railway or visit tiny traffic-free Iona, where St Columba first brought Christianity in 563 AD.

Belfast, Northern Ireland

Belfast, Northern Ireland Mon 09 Sep 2019

Belfast, Northern Ireland

The famous Irish hospitality and, indeed, the ‘craic’ can be well and truly found in Belfast, the riverside capital of Northern Ireland.

Dublin docklands

Dublin, Ireland Tue 10 Sep 2019

Dublin docklands

Head to the Irish capital to see some of the world's finest Georgian buildings, to enjoy the freshest pint of Guinness from a rooftop bar, and to learn about the many great writers who once called this charming city home.

Cobh, Ireland Wed 11 Sep 2019

Maritime enthusiasts should not miss Cobh: The Queenstown Story, a visitor centre that describes the tale of Ireland’s chief port of entry and departure, which hosted three or four transatlantic liners each week, including of course, White Star Lines’ Titanic. Take in Cork, with its lovely period buildings, and Blarney Castle and the famous Stone. Tour opportunities could also include a visit to the Old Middleton Distillery.

St Mary's, Scilly Isles

St Mary's, Scilly Isles Thu 12 Sep 2019

St Mary's, Scilly Isles
Guernsey (St. Peter Port)

St Peter Port, Guernsey Fri 13 Sep 2019

Guernsey (St. Peter Port)

The cobbled streets and relaxed style of Guernsey’s picturesque main town introduce you to the unique Channel Islands. Certainly more Anglo than French, but with enough ‘je ne sais quoi’ to make you think otherwise. Guernsey has a captivating island history, wonderful beaches, miles of coastal walks and tax-free shopping for the less energetic!

Cruises to France

Honfleur, France Sat 14 Sep 2019

Cruises to France

This pretty little town, at the mouth of the River Seine, makes a perfect finale to a spectacular cruise. The old harbour and marina are just delightful and the narrow streets and alleys of the old quarter are little changed since French medieval times. Claude Monet’s famous garden at Givenchy, the Normandy Landings beaches and even the Bayeux Tapestry are all within reach.

The Ship - Columbus

Columbus became the proud new flagship of Cruise & Maritime Voyages five ship ocean fleet in 2017 taking over the reign from Magellan. At 63,786grt and with an impressive space ratio, she carries approximately 1,400 passengers accommodated in 775 cabins and also accomodates for the solo traveller with 150 cabins allocated for single use. Given her size she provides a very generous, spacious and relaxing feel.

The ship was originally launched under Princess Cruises in 1989 and christened by Hollywood actress Audrey Hepburn on 23rd March 1989. In 1997 she was transferred to the P&O Cruises fleet and was the former Arcadia, where she stayed until 2003 when she was reassigned to Ocean Village, before returning to P&O Cruises in 2010. She was last refitted in 2015 and also underwent refurbishment in April 2017.
