Overview

The continent where the first human beings existed, Africa is a place with a strong cultural heritage, natural beauty, one-of-a-kind wildlife, exquisite coastline and a few hidden secrets. Vast, wild and exciting, Africa offers visitors some of the best wildlife spotting in the world. Discover, experience and explore a world of diversity in one park. Now the third largest national park in South Africa, Addo Elephant National Park has expanded to conserve a wide range of biodiversity, landscapes, fauna and flora not to mention the the most concentrated elephant population in Africa.

Addo Elephant National Park

Among the range of wildlife living in the park are Africa's 'Big 5' species: lion, elephant, buffalo, black rhino and leopard. So, you've a good chance of ticking off your 'Big 5' checklist without leaving the park boundary. Elephant sightings are all but guaranteed, with populations in the park growing from just 11 in 1931 to over 600 today. Lion and spotted hyena were introduced relatively recently but are thriving. Cape buffalo, numbering over 400, are being seen more often during the day despite being predominantly nocturnal. Endangered black rhino are harder to find, as are the secretive leopard, but with the help of a guide you may be lucky. The park is also host to Cape mountain and Burchell's zebra, several antelope species including eland, kudu and bushbuck, warthogs, hippo wallowing in the Sundays River and the largest population of flightless dung beetles in the world.

Kuzuko Lodge

Also known as the “Place of Glory”, Kuzuko Lodge is built high upon a hill in a private section of the northern part of the Addo Elephant National Park, offering awe-inspiring views of a 'Big 5' reserve. It is here where breathtaking views, from your private veranda, are complemented by luxurious chalets and warm, attentive service. The lodge is a traditional, solidly constructed property with 24 free-standing, thatch chalets. The comfortably furnished chalets are African themed, and provide private decks and spectacular bush views. The main lodge's welcoming spaces include a lounge and bar and dining area with incredible views. Meals can also be enjoyed settled around a fire in the boma. Unwind in the pool or wellness centre between morning and afternoon wildlife viewing drives or perhaps visit the habituated cheetahs.

Game Drives

You will experience, learn and enjoy the very best that African Wildlife viewing can offer and seeing South Africa's 'Big 5' here is a real possibility. Game drives take place as the sun rises, during the afternoon and as the sun sets. With experienced guides you are sure to track and point out the many species of game that roam the Kuzuko Reserve. With nocturnal animals out and about, sunrise and sunset drives offer a very different view of the wild. Dependent on the time of your game drive, you can enjoy a complimentary cup of tea or coffee with home-made rusks, a snack and local beverage. Bottled water is complimentary with morning and afternoon drives. Plus, enjoy bird watching and Bushman Painting exploration walk in between your game drives.

The Ship

Like her sister ship, the sturdy Azamara Quest is a mid-sized beauty with a deck plan well-suited to the needs of modern voyagers. You’ll never feel crowded in the comfortable social spaces of our bars, restaurants, lounges, Casino and Cabaret. Nor will you feel like a sardine jammed in around the pool, where our attentive staff is always ready to offer a complimentary bottled water, soft drink or fresh towel. Staterooms feature modern amenities, furnishings, and European linens. And one of the greatest features of this ship is the large number of staterooms with verandahs. There’s nothing better than opening your door to the fresh sea air and views. Azamara’s friendly ships are an altogether wonderful place to call your home away from home!
