Roll on next January

17 Jan 2019

My booking was made so easy thanks to Katie.

Friendly, knowledgeable advice about the ship and very efficient booking

17 Jan 2019

Didn’t have to wait long to speak to an agent who was friendly, gave set helpful advice and made the whole booking process easy and efficient. Met ROL Reid first last tour on a South Africa cruise who were genuinely friendly and explained the benefits. First time we’ve used you to book will do again. Thanks to Katie who dealt with me.

calm flowing waters

17 Jan 2019

Member of staff introduced herself and told me I can get back to her for any queries. She answered the questions I had and told me rest of the info she had to pass on. For me this is a holiday of a lifetime but she steered me through all the important stuff calmly.

The adviser we spoke to was extremely knowledgeable and very helpful. We would certainly book with ROL again and recommend ROL to others interested in cruising.

always good service would recommend them to a friend

Excellent service

16 Jan 2019

Very helpful and patient. Booked a cruise with no problem. Would recommend.

GREAT SERVICE

16 Jan 2019

Speedy reply to my call, knowledgabe approachable agent who listened to my request and was able to help immediately. When he put me on hold in order to speak to the cruise line, rather than keep me listening to the awful music he said that he would call me back which he did in a very short space of time.

This must be the best

16 Jan 2019

Had not used ROL previously, but quite impressed with the initial contact and the follow up. No pressure sales, just the facts and they were quick in obtaining all the relevant information to enable us to make a decision. All paperwork arrived initially by email within 30 minutes, all correct. Staff were helpful, informative and polite, excellent service.

Swift telephone response

16 Jan 2019

Answered telephone without very long wait. Helpful. Rang back when they said they would. Answered questions straight away without demanding name and endless details first, eg "how much for a single" got an answer without providing name, DOB, email etc etc which other operators do.

As I have said a pleasant phone call with your colleague

16 Jan 2019

Arlene spent some very useful time finding out and answering cabin detail queries on the Marco Polo for me and giving me comprehensive details of the organisation of the holiday. She made the booking a very pleasant activity.

    Lerwick, Shetland Islands

    30 Jun 2020

Capital and county town of the Shetland Islands, Lerwick was settled by the Norsemen in the 9th century but has prehistoric sites going back thousands of years. Jarlshof, with its remains of Bronze Age, Viking and Medieval settlements is believed by some to be the most remarkable archaeological discovery in Britain.

  • Day 5

    Torshavn, Faroe Islands

    01 Jul 2020

Capital city of the Faroe Islands, “The harbour of the god Thor”, is a modern town that retains a unique character; although the islands - a green home to birds, sheep and about 46,000 people - would still be recognisable to the early Viking settlers who arrived on their transatlantic trail from Scandinavia to North America.

  • Day 6

    Seydisfjordur, Iceland

    02 Jul 2020

This period piece, late 19th century town on Iceland’s East Coast nestles in a bowl of mountains in the Seydisfjörd and is one of the country’s finest natural harbours. Nearby attractions are the ‘reindeer territory’ of the eastern interior, the Vatnajökull glacier and the Lagarfljot lake, said to be home to a mythical monster that guards treasure thrown into the water in Viking times.

  • Akureyri, Iceland

    Day 7

    Akureyri, Iceland

    03 Jul 2020

The second largest town in Iceland, at the head of the country’s longest fjord, the thriving Botanical Gardens and the fascinating museum are well worth seeing, but the real attraction is the awesome landscape of volcanoes, waterfalls, canyons and geysers. Take a polar flight across to Grimsey, watch for whales or visit Godafoss - the ‘Waterfall of the Gods'.

  • IsafJordur, Iceland

    Day 8

    IsafJordur, Iceland

    04 Jul 2020

The main city on Iceland’s north west coast, known as the Westfjords region, provides the starting point for a number of fascinating excursions into this sparsely populated area, which, geologically, is the oldest part of Iceland. Here, land meets the sea in the most dramatic way imaginable. The sheer basalt cliff of Latrabjarg is home to one of the largest seabird colonies in the world and a wonderful place to go puffin spotting. Elsewhere, the rugged beauty of Hornstrandir Nature Reserve hides all manner of unusual vegetation, scenic walking trails and wildlife that includes seals and Arctic foxes.

  • Reykjavik, Iceland

    Day 9

    Reykjavik, Iceland

    05 Jul 2020

Welcome to the world’s most northerly capital! A modern, smokeless city with an old town, lovingly preserved, Reykjavik lies close to an astonishing region of lava fields, spectacular geysers and steaming geothermal springs. Attractions abound, but the Blue Lagoon, with its warm mineral rich waters, and the magnificent Gulfoss Falls should not be missed.

The Ship

Columbus became the proud new flagship of Cruise & Maritime Voyages five ship ocean fleet in 2017 taking over the reign from Magellan. At 63,786grt and with an impressive space ratio, she carries approximately 1,400 passengers accommodated in 775 cabins and also accomodates for the solo traveller with 150 cabins allocated for single use. Given her size she provides a very generous, spacious and relaxing feel.

The ship was originally launched under Princess Cruises in 1989 and christened by Hollywood actress Audrey Hepburn on 23rd March 1989. In 1997 she was transferred to the P&O Cruises fleet and was the former Arcadia, where she stayed until 2003 when she was reassigned to Ocean Village, before returning to P&O Cruises in 2010. She was last refitted in 2015 and also underwent refurbishment in April 2017.
