Transfer to the port and be welcomed on board your ship for what promises to be an epic journey. A relaxed dinner this evening allows you the chance to meet your fellow travellers and sets the tone for the next nine nights on board (B, D).
Cruise to Adele Island and join your Expedition Team member for an exploration of this remote coastal area by Zodiac. The island is surrounded by Adele Reef, home to an array of coral and marine life, including reef sharks and stingrays. Your ship then arrives in the Buccaneer Archipelago, home to more than 800 islands (B, L, D).
Today your ship cruises through to Talbot Bay, known for the 12-metre tides which create Horizontal Falls. Subject to tidal conditions, set out on a thrilling ride through the falls aboard a high-powered fast boat. Hold on tight as your boat skims across Talbot bay to the mouth of the falls before making its way through the churning waters. The adventure continues as you jump aboard your Zodiac vessel for an exploration of Cyclone Creek (B, L, D).

Step ashore at Raft Point to visit an ancient Wandjina rock art site. The Wandjina is known as a living art tradition as these stunning figures are ritually repainted. Scientific estimates show the original depictions date as far back as 5,000 years. When available, you’ll be joined by a local Indigenous guide. Afterwards, cruise Doubtful Bay, a hotspot for whale watching, before joining your Expedition Team for an in-depth exploration of Montgomery Reef by Zodiac (B, L, D).

Hop aboard your Zodiac for a visit to St George’s Basin. If the tide allows, you may catch sight of a saltwater crocodile, among numerous other species of marine life. Next, it’s on to the untouched coastal area of Hanover Bay. Continue on to Prince Regent Nature Reserve, a protected area only accessible by boat and recognised as a national biodiversity hotspot. Your ship then reaches Careening Bay, home to the historic Mermaid Boab Tree (B, L, D).
Your expedition ship arrives at Prince Frederick Harbour today, home to towering red cliffs and mangroves. With its extreme tides and pristine ecosystems, the harbour is home to a wide variety of wildlife, including saltwater crocodiles and mudskippers. For the keen birdwatchers among you, be sure to keep an eye out for kingfishers, egrets, herons and the majestic white-bellied sea eagles. Jump aboard your Zodiac vessels for an exploration of the Hunter River and Naturalist Island. As your day draws to a close, you may choose to set out on a helicopter flight to view Mitchell Falls from above (own expense) (B, L, D).
Off the coast of the Kimberley, approximately six kilometres from the mainland, lies Bigge Island. Comprising a rugged terrain, featuring multicoloured sandstone, it is home to the northern quoll. Known for its Indigenous rock art created by the Wunambal people, explore the caves throughout the island and see examples of first-contact art, including depictions of European tall ships dating from the 15th to 18th century (B, L, D).

Further east, an intriguing exploration of Vansittart Bay awaits today. Join your Expedition Team and set out across the bay’s vast salt flats to view the wreckage of a US Air Force C-53 that crash landed on the beach during World War II. The C-53 is a modified civilian Douglas DC-3 airliner, an aircraft used extensively during World War II by the Allies. Close by, step ashore at Jar Island, which features sandy beaches and a series of caves. Here, see examples of mysterious Bradshaw (Gwion Gwion) paintings, dating back some 20,000 years (B, L, D).
Wake this morning on the Kimberley coast as your ship cruises into Koolama Bay. Once known as Cape Ruilhieres, hear how this harbour was renamed, following the Japanese bombing of the MV Koolama in 1942, while carrying 91 passengers, 89 crew and a cargo of war supplies destined for the Australian Army at Wyndham. Next, it’s on to the remote King George River. Join your Expedition Team and jump aboard a Zodiac to meander through the river’s gorge system, travelling 12 kilometres upstream to discover hidden mangrove-fringed coves and soaring red cliffs (B, L, D).
Signaure Expereince: At King George Falls, watch the highest single-drop falls in Western Australia as they plunge 80 metres over a towering sandstone cliff.
After breakfast, disembark the ship. Transfer to Kununurra Country Club for your overnight stay. Spend the rest of the day at leisure (B).
