Built in 2007 and refurbished in 2022, MS Fram is a small ship with a big spirit of adventure. With space for just 250 guests, she’s technically classed as a large yacht, and her size gives her a distinct advantage, allowing for deeper exploration and a more personal experience. As the third smallest ship in the HX fleet, MS Fram is perfectly suited to expedition cruising. Whether you’re navigating icy fjords or stepping ashore in off-the-beaten-track villages, MS Fram offers a warm, welcoming base for curious travellers who value discovery, connection and the thrill of going further.

MS Fram offers a comfortable range of cabins and suites to suit every style of explorer.
Polar Inside cabins are cosy and cleverly designed, with double beds that can be separated into twins on request, plus all the essentials you’d expect: en-suite bathrooms with a shower and toiletries, a television, a safe, European two-pin plug sockets, and tea and coffee-making facilities. These cabins are located on the upper decks.
Polar Outside cabins provide the same practical layout but with the bonus of a window, so you can watch the world go by from the comfort of your bed. Most come with beds that can be configured as doubles or twins, and are available on both upper and lower decks.
Arctic Superior cabins offer a step up in space and comfort, with a calm, Scandinavian feel. These cabins include double beds (some of which can be split into singles), a TV, safe, minibar (charges apply), and tea and coffee-making facilities, plus thoughtful extras like bathrobes and slippers. You’ll find them across both upper and lower decks.
For something truly special, Expedition Suites deliver the highest level of comfort on board. Spacious and stylish, these suites are located exclusively on the upper decks and include features like private balconies, large windows, a separate seating area (some with sofa beds), and a minibar (charges apply). Guests enjoy premium touches such as daily turn-down service, laundry, champagne on ice with a welcome platter, and exclusive fine dining at Restaurant Lindstrøm - with the option to have meals delivered directly to your suite.
There’s no traditional cruise ship entertainment on MS Fram. Instead, the focus is on something far more enriching: the destinations themselves. The real entertainment comes through learning, discovery and immersion.
he Expedition Launch Pad on Deck 2 is where your expedition truly begins. This is where guests prepare to step off the ship and into the wild. The space is equipped with kit-up zones, gear lockers, and a briefing area, ensuring you’re ready, organised, and informed for every landing. The friendly Expedition Team uses this hub to run through safety briefings, outfit adjustments, and logistics, making transitions from ship to shore seamless.
At the heart of MS Fram’s onboard experience is the Science Centre on Deck 4 - a lively, hands-on space that brings exploration to life. Often described as the beating heart of the ship, it’s where curiosity meets discovery. Here, you can join engaging lectures, examine fascinating specimens through high-powered microscopes, and chat with the knowledgeable Expedition Team, who are always on hand to share insights and stories from the field. The space also houses a small shop, perfect for picking up a memento or a useful bit of gear before your next landing.
MS Fram features several inviting observation areas spread across Decks 5, 7 and 8, each offering a unique way to take in the breathtaking surroundings. On Deck 5, you’ll find a spacious outdoor promenade with observation terraces. Deck 7 combines comfort and scenery with its sun deck, two hot tubs and lounge. At the very top, Deck 8’s open-air Observation Deck offers 360° vistas and a peaceful spot to fully absorb passing landscapes.
MS Fram has one complimentary and one speciality restaurant. Restaurant Aune, located on Deck 4, is the main dining venue aboard MS Fram - and it sets the tone for the ship’s relaxed, expedition-style atmosphere. Informal and sociable, it’s a welcoming space where guests come together to share stories and enjoy hearty, regionally inspired meals. With menus influenced by the destinations explored, each breakfast, lunch and dinner offers a taste of the journey, often using ingredients that reflect the landscapes outside your window.
For something a little more refined, Restaurant Lindstrøm on Deck 4 offers a speciality dining experience with a distinctly Nordic twist. Named in honour of the beloved chef who accompanied Norway’s famous polar explorers, this elegant venue serves beautifully presented dishes in a calm, sophisticated setting. It’s complimentary for suite guests throughout the day, while non-suite guests can book breakfast, lunch or dinner here for an additional charge.
On Deck 7, you’ll find the alfresco BBQ area - the perfect spot to gather with fellow guests under the open sky. This casual space, overlooking the aft observation deck, invites you to savour freshly grilled food.
MS Fram has one bar. Tucked away at the stern of the ship on Deck 7, the Explorer Lounge & Bar is one of the ship’s most inviting spaces. With its floor-to-ceiling windows and sweeping panoramic views, it’s the perfect place to unwind after a day of exploration. Whether you’re sharing stories with fellow travellers over a drink or simply gazing out at the passing scenery, the atmosphere is relaxed, cosy and unmistakably Scandinavian.
MS Fram makes it easy to balance adventure with relaxation and wellbeing.
On Deck 7, you’ll find a compact but well-equipped gym, ideal for keeping up your fitness routine with the added motivation of panoramic views to keep you going. Just steps away, two hot tubs invite you to soak and unwind in the fresh sea air, the perfect way to relax after a day of exploring. And if you’re after something truly soothing, head up to Deck 8, where the top-deck sauna offers a warm, peaceful retreat with windows that frame the passing scenery - so you can stay cosy while watching the polar world drift by.
HX travels to over 250 destinations across more than 30 countries, spanning five continents. MS Fram sails her guests to some of the world’s most impressive destinations, like the Polar Regions and Europe.
Each of her itineraries is carefully curated to offer an immersive experience, and you can make the most of your time in port with HX’s extensive range of shore excursions. When on a cruise to Antarctica, paddle through icy fjords and among towering icebergs on a sea-kayaking excursion. In Greenland, strap on snowshoes and trek across pristine polar terrain.
