Life Onboard MS Fridtjof Nansen

Accommodations

MS Fridtjof Nansen has a range of accommodations for you to choose from.

Located on the middle decks, Polar Outside cabins are ideal for those who want a comfortable space with excellent views. Ranging in size from 183 to 248 square feet, these cabins feature large picture windows that frame the passing scenery - perfect for watching the world go by from the warmth of your room. Flexible sleeping arrangements, including twin or double beds and, in some cases, a sofa bed, make them a great choice for couples or solo travellers. Standard amenities include a flat-screen television, a minibar, a safe, a kettle, and tea and coffee-making facilities, along with a modern en-suite bathroom stocked with toiletries.

Situated on the higher decks for better views, Arctic Superior cabins offer a little extra space and style. These cabins range from 161 to 248 square feet, with many offering private balconies - ideal for enjoying the crisp sea air and stunning scenery in privacy. Interiors are calm and contemporary, with flexible bedding options, comfortable seating, and practical extras such as a minibar, a television, a safe, and tea and coffee-making facilities. Like all accommodations on MS Fridtjof Nansen, these cabins include an en-suite bathroom with a shower and eco-friendly toiletries.

For those seeking the most luxurious experience on board, the Expedition Suites are the ship’s most spacious and well-appointed accommodations, measuring between 237 and 517 square feet. Each suite boasts a private balcony - and in some, a hot tub - offering a truly special way to take in the views. Large windows let in plenty of natural light, while the interiors are tastefully decorated with warm wood tones and soft textiles. Guests staying in suites enjoy upgraded amenities including an espresso machine, bathrobes and slippers, and a well-stocked mini bar. These suites are perfect for guests looking to enjoy a more exclusive and indulgent expedition.

Activities & Entertainment

Entertainment aboard MS Fridtjof Nansen isn’t about glitzy stage shows - it’s the awe-inspiring destinations that take centre stage. With the guidance of the knowledgeable Expedition Team, each landing, lecture and wildlife sighting becomes part of the adventure. That said, there are also a number of inviting onboard spaces where you can relax and reflect.

At the heart of MS Fridtjof Nansen’s immersive onboard experiences lies the Science Centre on Deck 6. Designed to spark curiosity and deepen your connection to the destinations you visit, this innovative space is equipped with cutting-edge technology, interactive displays and high-tech gadgets. It’s a place where guests and the Expedition Team come together to share insights, discoveries and stories. Whether you’re attending a fascinating lecture, browsing the small but thoughtfully curated library, or getting hands-on in a photography workshop, the Science Centre is a great place to spend your time.

Just along from the Science Centre, you’ll find the onboard shop - a small but thoughtfully stocked boutique offering a curated selection of essentials and souvenirs. If you need expedition gear for your next landing or want a meaningful keepsake to remember your journey, the shop has you covered.

Located on Deck 3, the Expedition Launch Pad is where the real adventure begins aboard MS Fridtjof Nansen. Thoughtfully designed with exploration in mind, this area is the starting point for your shore landings. Equipped with practical facilities like kit-up zones, lockers, and debriefing areas, it’s easy to gear up and get going under the expert guidance of the Expedition Team.

MS Fridtjof Nansen offers several superb vantage points for soaking up the scenery, with spacious Observation Decks located on Decks 6, 7 and 11.

Food & Drink

MS Fridtjof Nansen has three dining options, two complimentary and one speciality.

Restaurant Aune on Deck 6 is the main dining venue aboard MS Fridtjof Nansen and is the heart of the ship’s culinary experience. The restaurant reflects the company’s Norwegian heritage while embracing global flavours. Here, you’ll enjoy hearty breakfasts, satisfying lunches and elegant dinners inspired by the regions you explore. With an emphasis on fresh, sustainable ingredients, many sourced locally where possible, the menus change to reflect the journey. The ship’s other complimentary option is Restaurant Fredheim, which offers a relaxed and sociable dining experience. With a menu that leans towards international comfort food, the restaurant is a great spot to enjoy light bites and snacks throughout the day.

Perched on Deck 9, Restaurant Lindstrøm is the ship’s only speciality restaurant. This refined option offers a sophisticated culinary experience. Menus rotate every two days, showcasing beautifully presented dishes crafted from locally sourced ingredients, reflecting the regions visited. Suite guests enjoy complimentary access to Restaurant Lindstrøm for all meals, while other passengers can indulge in this fine dining experience for an additional fee.

There is one bar onboard, the Explorer Lounge & Bar on Deck 10.

The one bar onboard, the Explorer Lounge & Bar, perched high on Deck 10, is the social heart of MS Fridtjof Nansen. With floor-to-ceiling windows offering panoramic views, it’s the perfect spot to watch the world drift by, whether you’re nestled in a cosy armchair or sharing a drink with fellow travellers.

Relaxation & Fitness

MS Fridtjof Nansen has a small but mighty relaxation and fitness offering.

On Deck 7, you’ll find the ship’s main indoor gym, equipped with Technogym cardio machines, free weights, and yoga mats. Adjacent to the gym is the Wellness Centre, where you can indulge in a variety of treatments, including massages and facials.

Deck 10 is dedicated to relaxation and scenic enjoyment. Here, you’ll discover a heated infinity pool and two hot tubs at the aft, offering stunning views of the surrounding seascape. Additionally, the panoramic sauna provides a tranquil space to unwind while gazing out at the passing scenery.

For those who prefer outdoor activities, Deck 11 features an open-air gym equipped with various exercise stations, allowing guests to work out while enjoying fresh air and ocean vistas. This deck also includes a 150-metre running track, perfect for a morning jog or a leisurely walk.
