Named after the original Fram, the most famous explorer ship of its time, she remains true to the original spirit of this great sailing legend.
Her interior has been decorated with artwork created by Arctic region artists, reflecting both the Arctic and Antarctic with photos of early expeditions and paintings of snow-capped peaks. Her spacious outside decks provide access to the very front of the ship and is the ideal spot to observe magnificent scenery and marine wildlife.
In 2020, MS Fram will be completely upgraded, transforming her into a brand new expedition ship. The refurbishment will see all cabins and suites renovated as well as the addition of more environmentally friendly engines. She will also see a complete transformation to all public areas, including new restaurants and a high tech Science Center.
True to MS Fram’s Norwegian heritage, her cabins are comfortable with modern amenities. With 127 cabins, you have a choice of spacious cabins and a number of superior suites. Suites are named after Norwegian polar heroes and include six grand suites with balconies and teak lounge chairs for viewing the fabulous land and seascapes.
Enjoy fine cuisine in Imaq, MS Fram’s main dining restaurant. The floor has different levels so no matter where your table is, you’ll be treated to a stunning view. A balcony at the far end of the restaurant ensures you will not miss a thing when wildlife appear during your mela.
On your walk to the restaurant you’ll see an exhibition of original artefacts from the historic expeditions of Amundsen and Nansen, the great Norwegian explorers of the original Fram.
The Qilak (meaning sky) observation lounge on Deck 7, is an exceptionally well designed space, surrounded on three sides by floor-to-ceiling windows. The front row swivel sears are a popular spot to keep warm and watch the ship slowly cruise past spectacular icebergs. Also on Deck 7 is a well-equipped fitness room complete with panoramic ocean views.
The Nunami (meaning on land) lobby is located next to the reception desk on Deck 4 and is a firm favourite to relax, exchange tales and take in the incredible views. In case you’ve forgotten to pack anything, a shop stocked with toiletries, winter clothing and traditional Scandinavian sweaters can be found behind reception on Deck 5.
During your voyage, the Expedition Team will deliver outstanding lectures based on their academic specialities in dedicated lecture rooms.
