Differences between Iona and Arvia

5 key differences between Iona and sister-ship Arvia

Introducing the greenest, largest and most innovative sister-ships

Published on 11 Feb 2022

Almost two years to the day, Iona floated out of dry dock from Meyer Werft as the greenest, largest and most innovative vessel in the P&O Cruises fleet. How lucky we are that the much-anticipated Arvia, Iona’s sister ship, will soon join her. As sister ships, Iona and Arvia are almost identical, however, there are some key differences. Here, we dissect what sets the sisters apart:

Differences between Iona and Arvia

A new activity zone

Deck 19

Arvia features an exciting new activity zone on Deck 19. Perfect your putt at Altitude Minigolf, a tropical island-themed minigolf adventure, cool off and splash around at Altitude Splash Valley, an aqua zone with ocean views, brave the dizzying heights of P&O Cruises' first-ever high ropes experience, Altitude Skywalk, or play football, basketball, short tennis or cricket at the Sports Arena.

Different restaurants

Decks 6& 8

When Iona launched, she bought with her a fantastic world of food. So, it was only natural her sister did the same. 6th Street Diner on Deck 6 offers the best all-American eats in a laid-back venue perfect for fun dining with family and friends. Green & Co, featuring Mizuhana on Deck 8 serves up the freshest flavours at sea with exquisitely crafted fish and plant-based dishes as well as delicious sushi courtesy of Mizuhana. Also on Deck 8, Roast in The Quays reinvents the classic Sunday Roast in the multi-venue dining piazza The Quays, which first debuted on Iona.

A swim-up bar

Decks 16& 18

A P&O Cruises and industry-first, Infinity and Panorama Pool and Bar offers the ultimate luxury. Located on Decks 16 and 18, you can order your favourite cocktail from the swim-up bar and then soak in the revitalising whirlpool. However, nighttime is when things really come alive with atmospheric live music and even silent discos.

An escape room

Deck 8

Are you ready for mission control? New and exclusive to Arvia, Mission Control is P&O Cruises' very first multi-sensory escape room experience. You’ll board the fictional submarine Arvia II to tackle a series of live-action puzzles on an exhilarating underwater adventure. You’ll have two storylines to choose from (one for all ages and the other designed for adults) - will you be able to crack the code?

A retractable roof

Decks 16& 17

The SkyDome, which debuted on Iona, offers a relaxed, poolside environment by day and a must-visit entertainment venue by night. Now, Arvia’s ethos is to help you see the world in widescreen, which is why P&O Cruises have developed the SkyDome to include a retractable roof. Take full advantage of Arvia’s sunny itineraries and be dazzled by the endless entertainment.
