Stockholm is an enigmatic city with its mind set to the future. The Old Town is the area of Gamla Stan and around every corner, you’ll find an architectural gem to wonder at and a new story to listen to.
Known as Sweden’s second city, Gothenburg may not be as well-known as Stockholm, but it certainly packs a punch. With bright coloured buildings, scenic waterways and trams traversing the streets, this city is a European gem. Whilst in Gothenburg enjoy the Southern Archipelago to get close to nature, the Liseberg Amusement Park for nostalgic fun or the Volvo Museum if you are a petrol head.
The Vasa ship sank in Stockholm in 1628. Then, after 333 years the ship arose again from the seabed and was salvaged and used once more. Today, it sits in the Vasa Museum, the most visited museum in Sweden, and is on display for all to see. One of the most interesting ships in the world, come here to learn about its history and legacy.
Only an hour outside of Stockholm, the small-town of Nynäshamn is a foodie’s delight. A great way to explore Sweden outside of the city, the small town feel here wraps you up and takes you in. There is plenty to do here but enjoying the food and drink scene is a must. Whether you choose to visit the fish market to try some of the best-smoked salmon available or the Steam Brewery to try some national brews, you’re sure to be impressed.
