Sophisticated beauty

ROL Cruise recommends…

A country unlocked by the Danube

Lazing through the top of Austria, the Danube unlocks this landlocked country to cruisers. Winding around the green countryside, the Danube opens doors around this country and even when you’re gliding downstream, you’ll be able to glance out the window at passing towns and villages. Even more stunning are the white brick castles that overlook the river, so make sure you keep your eyes open as you glide down the calm waters.

Sophisticated Vienna

More famous composers have lived in Vienna than anywhere else in the world, and there is a reason for that. Thought to be the music capital of the world, everyone who comes here should try and enjoy some musical entertainment. Whether that’s watching an opera or listening to an orchestra in a concert hall, there is plenty on offer and a trip to Austria really isn’t complete without experiencing it.

Experience The Sound of Music in Salzburg

Most people around the world know Salzburg as it was the filming location for one of the most famous films of all time, The Sound of Music. Although we cannot promise you’ll see Maria spinning around the hills, but we can promise the city is just as beautiful as you hoped. With baroque architecture and copper spires, it feels like a location from a real-life fairy-tale.

See the abbey in Melk

Situated in the beautiful Wachau Valley, Melk has one showstopper of an attraction. Looking over the town and the Danube from atop a hill is the abbey. Built in the 11th Century, this lavish building has been home to Benedictine monks but is now open for guided tours. Walk around the grounds and discover the museum, marble hall, library and church. Melk Abbey is so iconic that it was chosen to be a motif on a Euro collectors coin in 2007
