There are a whopping fifteen grades of accommodation available, ranging from a Category 1 standard twin inside cabin up to a Category RS Royal Suite. All cabins are well designed and well laid-out – many have L-shaped beds, so you have the option to use them as twins or push them together and use them as doubles. Both beds have a bedside table and wall light. There is a lot of storage space with a combination of hanging spaces and drawers. All cabins have a safe, a hair dryer, a telephone and television. There are accessible cabins available on Deck 5, Deck 6 and Deck 11. Each cabin has a shower and chair with space to allow wheelchairs to go inside the bathroom.
Magellan has two classic dining options, Waldorf and Kensington. Both offer a traditional cruise experience with open seating at breakfast and lunch and classic first and second sittings at dinner.
Breakfast in Waldorf is self-serve though there is waiter service for kippers and poached eggs. Cereal, yoghurt, bacon, sausages, baked beans, grilled mushrooms, grilled tomatoes and scrambled eggs are available between 7.30am and 9.00am. Lunch, which is served from 12.00pm to 1.30pm, usually consists of two soup choices, pastas, beef or fish dishes is served by waiters. For dinner there are two sittings; 5.45pm and 8.15pm. Here you’ll be able to choose from a range of delicious dishes on a set menu.
Very similar to Waldorf just a tad smaller, Kensington holds breakfast between 8.00am and 9.30am, lunch between 12.00pm and 1.30pm and two dinner sittings, one at 6.15pm and the other at 8.30pm.
Magellan’s casual option, Raffles Buffet Bistro, is located on Deck 10. With the option to dine al fresco on the lido, Raffles is open 24 hours a day and offers a range of dishes. There’s also a pizzeria here which is open daily from 6.00pm. Always popular with passengers is the afternoon tea in Raffles, which is served from 3.30pm to 4.30pm. But it’s not the traditional afternoon tea you’re imagining, instead it offers a selection of salads as well as scones, cream and jam, little sandwiches and a warm pudding.
The Grill, on Deck 2, is ideal for sunbathers who feel peckish but don’t want to leave the comfort of their lounges. Hot dogs, burgers, chips, salad and a few desserts are available here.
Magellan has some fabulous entertainment on board, from big shows to pianists, discos to quizzes. Why not begin your evening with a pre-dinner drink while enjoying some of your favourite melodies? The resident musicians invite you to sit back, relax and enjoy conversations with new found friends.
During the day lots of things take place; quizzes, bean bag bowls, bingo, rope quoits and word games in the Captain’s Club, knit and natter sessions in Hampton’s Bar and fitness classes, dance-based exercise classes and ballroom dance classes in both Scott’s Nightclub and Sinatra’s Lounge Bar. On cruises five nights or longer, there are also craft classes which include millinery, bead jewellery, mosaic decoration, calligraphy and decorative card art, the majority of which take place in the Conference Room or Card Room.
There are two pools on Magellan. The main pool is on Deck 10 while the Lido pool overlooks the stern on the same deck as two Jacuzzis. Deck 11 is the place to be if you want limited recreational pursuits such as shuffleboard, chess, table tennis and table football.
Discover a wide range of comfortable lounges and stylish leisure facilities that will enrich your time on board. Captain’s Club is an ideal place for a drink thanks to its easy going atmosphere and light entertainment. Hampton’s Lounge, with its television and grand piano, is an ideal location for meeting friends for pre-dinner drinks. Sinatra’s Lounge Bar has panoramic windows, providing you with fantastic views. Scott’s Nightclub has a sultry ‘60s atmosphere. Open from 8.00pm until late, Scott’s Nightclub has a dancefloor and DJ and at times, even a karaoke machine.
The Magellan Main Show Lounge is a two-tier style theatre. During the day, the lounge acts as a hive of activity with cooking demonstrations, shore excursion presentations and fascinating talks. It is also the main venue for all your evening entertainment, with floor shows, singers and dancers. Two 40-minute shows are held every evening, one at 8.15pm and one at 10.30pm which comprise of enthusiastic singers and dancers as well as comedians.
