View Cruise DealThe Czech Republic, also known by its short-form name Czechia, is bordered by Austria to the south, Germany to the west, Poland to the northeast and Slovakia to the east. Bohemia, as it was formerly known, was founded in 1198.
Known as the ‘city of a hundred spires,’ Prague is a popular stop on many Czech Republic cruises. While here, make sure to walk along the 12th century Charles Bridge. It is a 500m long playground of integral architecture, buskers, baroque statues and the atmosphere grandeur of the city that lies behind. Sit in awe as you travel under the architecture of the previous infrastructure on a 45-minute cruise under the expanse of brick that covers the Vltava river.
Lined with cobbled streets and overshadowed by the impressive 13th-century castle, Český Krumlov is a location waiting to be explored. Take to the river by kayak, trace back the local history or sip on a traditional Czech beer under the gaze of the sun along the riverside. Famous for its growing art scene and home to Egon Schiele Art Centrum, culture is rife in this bohemian region.
An elegant mixture of neo-gothic and Tudor style, Hluboká Castle lies just outside the popular city of České Budějovice. Housing a large collection of art, fine interior woodwork and stained glass windows to rival those of the royals, this location is a must when visiting the Czech Republic. Built in the 1660s and loosely based on Windsor Castle, you’ll feel like you’re visiting a home away from home.
